Single Appointment Dental Care

Most dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist. This means that on the first visit, you get an injection of anesthesia, your tooth prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary restoration put on your tooth. You make a second appointment for a couple of weeks later, and get an injection, have the temporary pried off (if it hasn't fallen off already, and have a permanent restoration put on. Why go to the dentist a second time when you don't have to? With CEREC, Dr. Fleming can finish the procedure in a single appointment, start to finish.

Finest Dental Materials

A CEREC tooth restoration isn't just convenient, it is also healthy. Many years ago, dentists had few options to repair decayed and damaged teeth other than amalgam, gold, and other metals. With CEREC, we can use strong, tooth colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. So, your tooth does not crack, and you can go on enjoying your evening. Also, the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth, so your dentist can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.

Smile Enhancement

Dr. Fleming can use CEREC for more than just crowns and fillings. CEREC is capable of producing any single tooth restoration. Chipped or discolored front teeth can be repaired with beautiful CEREC porcelain anterior crowns or veneers. Your smile makes a lasting first impression. Enhance it with CEREC.Worldwide, a CEREC restoration is placed every 20 seconds. With a history of nearly 20 years, this equipment has helped dentists place over 6 million restorations. For a crown, traditionally the dentist would grind the enamel off and leaving a small portion of the tooth.

Now Dr. Fleming can save part of the enamel and treat the tooth more conservatively with a bonded inlay or onlay and not have to grind the whole tooth. With no messy impressions, we can create and place a new crown all in one single visit!

A digital 3D camera creates a digital image, replacing the more traditional impression. The computer-aided design (CAD) software enables Dr. Fleming to design and create a precise restoration specific to your dental needs. These highly durable restorations can also be color-matched for a more natural looking smile.

CEREC is an advanced dental technology that is utilized for the restoration of decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth. CEREC can create full crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers. The CEREC machine crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes. CEREC restorations are made of compressed porcelain. The most beneficial feature of receiving a CEREC restoration is that it is accomplished in one visit. In addition to the benefit of a one visit restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or temporary to wear.

Procedure

The procedure for placement of a CEREC restoration is very simple. The first step is to remove all decay from the tooth. Dr. Fleming will then shape the tooth in preparation to take a digital picture. The tooth is then sprayed with a very fine powder. This allows the digital camera to take an acceptable image. Once this image is captured, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will allow the doctor to design the restoration right in front of you. Once the design is completed, the CEREC will mill the restoration. This step takes approximately 15 minutes. You can actually watch this process if you would like. When the restoration is finished milling, Dr. Fleming will place the restoration. The entire process should take just over an hour!
